Honey Bees

We began keeping honey bees in the spring of 2015. Our apiary has been as many as 25 hives and as little as 1 hive. We strive to keep our bees healthy and happy. Honey is extracted in June and/or July and stores are left on the hives to keep them fed through the winter.

Found a “ball of bees?”

Don’t panic! This is a honey bee swarm and is how the hive reproduces. Swarming honey bees are actually very docile and will not attack unless severely disturbed. Swarms are typically found on trees, bushes, or on the sides of buildings.

Please do not spray the bees!

Call Sara (864-784-2032) or Bill (864-723-5720) and we will try to rehome the bees if it is safe to do so. We generally respond to swarm calls in Oconee, Pickens, and Anderson counties.
