Pastured Lamb

Why SaBill Farms Lamb?

Have you ever bought lamb from the grocery store and thought it was too gamey for your taste? Most grocery store lamb is imported from Australia and New Zealand and is from wool sheep. The high amounts of lanolin occurring naturally in the skin of wool sheep can give it a musky and gamey flavor. Here at SaBill Farms, we raise a type of sheep known as a “Hair” sheep – our sheep don’t have wool! Hair sheep have a mainly hair coat which is naturally shed each spring (similar to a horse) and do not need to be sheared. But most importantly, no wool means no lanolin! Our Katahdin and Dorper sheep meat is mild in flavor and oh so tender!

Whole Pasture Raised Lamb

Our lamb is born, raised, and finished on pasture. We will lovingly raise your lamb to approximately 130-150 lbs before it is harvested. We will schedule the processor date and put you in touch with the butcher to pick your desired cuts. Once the butcher is finished, we will deliver your vacuumed sealed American lamb to your home. You can expect to received 60-80 lbs of meat depending on the cuts selected (higher amounts of ground vs bone-in cuts will yield a lower total poundage). Find a list of lamb cuts here.
